The Holidays are always a special time of the year. It's the time of the year to celebrate the birth of Christ with family and friends. It's also a time to share with those that may not be as fortunate as some of us. Please give from the heart to your favorite charity or cause.
This playlist contains a variety of Latin artists and songs in Spanish for the holidays. Some of the songs are traditional, some are not but still festive. The songs may make you laugh or smile and some may make you cry. As a special treat for our Metal fans we have included a Metal version of "Silent Night." One other song that was included in the playlist is " A Soldier's Silent Night" which is dedicated to our servicemen and their families. Thank you for your sacrifice.

As 2009 winds down, this Austin Vida showcase is one of the better events to close out the year. Rock y Roll Radio will definitely be there to support this "all Latino" showcase at the Beauty Bar.
Recently saw Arthur Yoria at Momo's, World Music Night sponsored by KUT 90.5 FM/kut.org presented by Bemba Entertainment and was just blown away by his creativity, music and style. How is it that Rock y Roll Radio did not know about this incredible talent?
To be honest, Rock y Roll Radio did know about Arthur Yoria. Caught Arthur's performance at the Flamingo Cantina in Monoceja's debut performance in August. Monaceja could be described as a two man experimental, Euro-pulsating beat, fusion rock band. Eduardo "Edo" Fajardo, of bands Edo and Executive Life is the other half of Monaceja.
Arthur is not new to music but somewhat a new solo act to Austin. He is an accomplished Houston based bilingual singer/songwriter, nominated Songwriter of the Year in the Houston Press Music Awards since 2001. "He combines guitar and vocals with samples, loops, and digital effects. The tracks that are heard live are recorded immediately on stage and are then played under the current live track until that track too becomes a background layer." And now that you know about Arthur Yoria, catch his shows, get his music and Rock y Roll Radio promises you won't be disappointed.

The most important Mexican band, Cafe Tacvba, completes 20 years together and plans a grand celebration. They've already started the celebration plus the "SINO" tour and will be touring the United States from November 19 to December 5, 2009.
Recently, Cafe Tacvba was the winner of the Premio Leyenda at Los Premios MTV 2009 on MTV Tr3s this past October 15th. The honor was presented to the band by British icon Morrissey, a legend in his own right. Let's celebrate with Cafe Tacvba and go to the concert on November 29th.
Maneja Beto, Rock y Roll Radio's most favorite band, has a new single out right now. The title of the single is "Ofrendas" and you have to hear it. The song still has the Maneja Beto feel and sound but with an "Indie Disco en Español" beat. You can just sit back and listen or just let your feet follow the beat.

El Tule has a new CD and wants to celebrate the event with family, friends and the fans. Volumen II has Cumbia, Salsa and Merengue tunes that promise to make this event a dance party.
Rock y Roll Radio has been to numerous El Tule performances and thoroughly enjoys their music and energy. Volumen II definitely takes El Tule to the next level. The band sounds tight and musically the band projects the Latin soul that Cumbias, Salsa and Merengues were meant to have. This body of work is going to open new doors of opportunity for El Tule so be a part of it by attending the CD Release Party and buying the CD.

Salsa Candela, an Austin dance group, will perform all the Latin dances and thoroughly entertain you. They also like audience participation and will pull people from the audience to be part of the show. If you're a dancer here's your chance to shine and if you're a non-dancer, go for it anyway.
Dj Chorizo Funk will be spinning the tunes as well. Eddie Campos aka Chorizo Funk specializes in "Funky" Funk and you can catch him at all the major events and venues. Check him out!
The end of the year, 2009, is closing fast, so El Tule CD Release Party is one of the events to attend to close out the year. See you there.
The Raspas, an Austin band, plays a combination of Reggae, Punk and Ska with a smooth mellow but rocking sound and beat.Rock y Roll Radio will be watching the progress of The Raspas and catching a few of their shows. Keep an eye on these guys and catch a performance or two as well.
Axis Unity, also an Austin band, plays Roots music, Rock and Reggae but with a slight edge. Both The Raspas and Axis Unity should complement each other and promises to be a great "free" show. No reason not to go see a couple of great groups.
Kinky has a new video off their recent album, "Barracuda." Barracuda has received rave reviews and Rock y Roll Radio definitely agrees that this is an exceptional album. Angel Ferror, no stranger to Austin's music scene, has put together a group of talented musicians to form The Daylight Sessions. Angel Ferrer has a rich musical history and in Austin, Texas that history includes the groups Ill Camino, Vallejo, The Chris Perez New Project and now The Daylight Sessions. When Rock y Roll Radio researched Angel to find out more about him, other than the bands he was part of, there wasn't really any good comprehensive information. Again Austin Vida, Austin's premier and comprehensive music web source, has provided an exclusive and very intimate interview with Angel Ferrer. After reading the interview, I can say that I now know Angel Ferrer more thoroughly and also know his musical goals. I encourage you to read the interview because you'll be hearing a lot of buzz about Angel in the very near future.
I went to see Angel Ferrer's The Daylight Sessions last night at Quinn's in Round Rock, Texas. I really didn't know what to expect because I had purposely not listened to any of the group's music. To my amazement, I was blown away by the very soulful and sensual R&B sound that the band was producing. The band was solid and played as one soulful unit, just flawless. The Daylight Sessions is comprised of: Angel Ferrer-Guitar and Vocals; Alberto Ferrer-Bass; Jeff Hartsought-Drums; Robert Belt-Guitar and Cristina Soto-Back up Vocals. Angel Ferrer and Jeff Hartsough are very approachable and friendly guys and love what they do.
The group performed "All I Want To Do," "Cool Touch," plus a souful version of "Summer Breeze" a 1972 song by Seals and Crofts and other rock based songs.

Nortec Collective featuring Bostich y Fussible performed in Austin, Texas on September 25, 2009 and Blastro and Austin Vida captured part of Nortec Collective's incredible show. If you haven't seen Nortec Collective perform, you have to make it a point to see their "unique and infectious blend of techno music and traditional northern Mexican folk." Bostich y Fussible very creatively blend music, technology and visuals graphics into a multiple sensory experience.

Zeta Brown, an Este Vato Hip Hop side project, is new on the scene and Rock y Roll Radio is anxious to see Zeta Brown's performance. Este Vato is a well established Austin Latin Fusion band and expect Zeta Brown to be just as great. Also on the line up is DJ Cauze spinning all night.
